Education/Teaching

I studied music at the University of Minnesota and privately in London with teachers from the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music.  I have provided private lessons in piano and composition since 1998

 
The London Connection 

I moved to London in 1988 and formed the band  accentricity 

which I composed music and played piano, performing in London clubs and basements -- 606, Freuds. 

  

I co-wrote, composed music and was Music Director for the musical "Lucky Winner" staged at the Man in the Moon Theatre, London, in 1999.  Composed songs, incidental music and was Music Director for " A Cautionary Tale - Goblin Market" a play staged at the Royal National Theatre in 2001.  Composed music, wrote lyrics and played piano in the orchestra for the musical "The East End of Chicago" staged at the Stratford Circus Theatre, London, in 2004. I  have also played for Ballet and Modern Dance companies including Mark Morris, Bill T Jones, Alvin Ailey, Harlem Dance Theater and Rambert Dance Company. 

Since returning to the U.S. in 2012 I have composed music to promote Patrick Coyle's feature film "The Public Domain"  

Ballet

2018 saw the world premier of my feature length ballet "Carmen" choreographed by Zoe Henrot, adapted for six piece jazz band from the opera by Bizet with added original compositions, performed at the O'Shaunessy Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota
